Sorry Emma...

...but I love the new Burberry campaign with Rosie more!

I love it! I would pick this collection over the last one any day. Did anyone else think the lilac coat was just... not great? Who am I to question the big designer, right? Well I'm a consumer... and I just didn't like the lilac coat! I think we all have a right to say, "No, we don't like this piece of designer clothing".

When Alexander McQueen died, I was having an MSN conversation with my friend. We were talking about the Brit Awards - where Lady Gaga wore the McQueen outfit, with the lace thing in her head. I made a comment like "Did her dress get stuck in her head or something", unaware that it was McQueen, and my friend replied "It's Alexander McQueen :/".

It's left me thinking for a while. Of course, I respect the work of designers, but do I HAVE to like their work? Firstly, just because McQueen died, it doesn't mean my opinions to the clothes have to change. If I see a piece of clothing I don't like, I'll say it, so why does the designer make a difference? Just because it's Alexander McQueen, who died about a week before, I automatically have to like it?
And this was coming from a friend who probably had no real awareness of McQueen's work before, but as soon as the word fashion becomes apparant, she automatically had to think that she loved all of his work so that she can fit in with the view of the "fashion crowd".
It all boils down to personal taste, it shouldn't be about what we SHOULD think, we should think whatever we want to think!

Sorry about the rant, but what do YOU think?

Hmm I like them both. Emma's had a crisp, clean feel, while this one is kind of it's darker sister!

And I know what you mean. I guess it just rings true to the idea that you become more famous dead than alive!

i agree, simply because something is 'fashionable' or 'designer' doesn't mean you have to like it. everyone's entitled to their own opinion. although i do happen to be a fan of mcqueen...but i was not a fan of what lady gaga was wearing.

I agree, just because a piece is designed by a particular designer doesn't mean it's the best or that great looking. It does depend on personal taste.

And gorgeous Burberry collection!

I completely & utterly agree. We are all entitled to our opinions on fashion just as we are for art. It is accepted if you have a personal artistic taste but not a style one? Surely that's the whole point? & the fact that suddenly everyone who happened to listen to the radio that day & learnt about McQueen then name dropped him for months after made me die a little bit inside.

On my own little rant: so pissed off that I didn't find my perfect shearling jacket (that I've been searching for, for 2 years) before this trend hit :(

How to read more? Or what to read? I would say for how, become an insomniac or get a long distance boyfriend. Most of my reading is done at small hours of the morning or on the train/coach to see my boyfriend. Baths are good too, but I always seem to drop the book... I could recommend lots of books though if that's what you meant. I love recommending books! What sort of thing do you like?

Completely agree with your words... just because it's by X-designer... it could still be awful or not to your taste.

And yes, love this campaign more. It's so much moodier and richer, and of course Rosie is GORGEOUS!

I totally agree with what you say. There's an awful like of designer crap, just as there's an awful lot of high street crap.

This campaign is so good though!
